The Volkswagen motor group is poised to appoint a design consultancy to review the identities of some of the world’s biggest car brands – including VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda.
An unknown number of consultancies are in the running for the review. A VW spokesman in Germany says reports that Berlin-based consultancy MetaDesign has been appointed (DW 17 March) are “early”.
“We are certainly in negotiations with MetaDesign but there is no contract yet,” he says. “We are in contact with other design consultancies as well.”
MetaDesign, led by type guru Erik Spiekermann, has been working on identity guidelines for both VW and Audi. Spiekermann was unavailable for comment.
