The BBC’s ambitious factual TV series, chronicling the twentieth century and entitled People’s Century, begins next month with opening and closing titles designed by BBC Graphic Design Department designer Iain Macdonald. Former BBC graphic designer Alan Jeapes contributed to the project as a freelance. The sequences were created by projecting archive film footage on to a 10m model. The result is a journey ‘down the road’ of the century from Victorian England to beyond the fall of the Berlin Wall. The archive film was edited by Rodney Longhurst at BBC Post Production.
