That’s all folks – see you in 2022

Designers have much to reflect on in 2021 with some stability returning after new hybrid working practices have been embraced and new types of work sought out.

You can look at the year in review here, where we unpick what 2021 meant for design businesses with help from Design Studio and DutchScot while looking at great work which defined the year.

We can see that designers are taking on more social causes with new clients, existing clients and in their personal work. Social and sustainable values are also being embedded into projects more routinely, rather than being seen as an add on.

At the same time we have seen brands use a disruptive period to seek reflection and a change of direction with the help of designers, while designers of spaces – who arguably had the worst 2020 – have benefited from the managed return to public life in 2021.

We have also compiled and analysed our most popular stories here, looking at different themes and sectors.

Although we are all experiencing another challenging end to the year, we wish you a safe and happy holiday.

Your views and expert opinions help make Design Week what it is and we are excited to continue the conversations we have been having with you in 2021.

We hope you have found our reporting useful this year and look forward to joining you again in the new year with more news, insight and careers advice.
