Dalziel & Pow has created a concept for Swedish design brand kikki.K that aims to evoke the studio of brand founder Kristina Karlsson.
The new store design features a large workshop table, which can be used to host special events and product demonstrations.
A number of digital installations – including external screens, table-top storytelling and hidden interior projections – also feature.
Moodboards and trees
Each collection is framed by moodboards that mix sketches, photos, fabric swatches and text. These moodboards are mounted on hanging mesh displays or laid out on marble tabletop slabs that are embedded with small digital screens.
Dalziel & Pow has developed a typeface based on Kristina Karlsson’s handwriting that is used to create “statement messages” around the store.
A silver birch tree under a light-well is at the centre of the store, while natural tree stumps serve as seating and a large lightbox displays a Swedish woodland scene.
Agile space
The interior is designed as an “agile space” that can be fully reconfigured to be different each time customers visit.
Dalziel & Pow says: “The inviting space features all the hallmark of cool Scandi style: natural textures, a tonal white and neutral palette, simple finishes and clean lines.”
The concept is launching initially in Melbourne, Australia, with a store set to open at London’s Covent Garden next month.
