Japanese retailer Mujirushi Ryohin is escalating its European operation, with plans to open more Muji stores in the UK and find franchise partners on the Continent.
Director of European operations Ewan Douglas is `actively seeking’ sites for three more shops ideally to open in the UK this year, with another three planned for 1996. London could take another two, he says, bringing the total in the capital to five, but he is also looking in cities such as Manchester, Nottingham and Newcastle.
Douglas is likely to bring in designer Richard Woolf for the new outlets. Woolf worked on the four existing UK shops – in London and Glasgow – with architect Harper Mackay.
