Car manufacturer Renault has appointed Lambie-Nairn to design the branding and idents for its new promotional TV channel, Design Week can reveal.
Branding and broadcast graphics group Lambie-Nairn won the contract about three weeks ago, following a competitive pitch. Both Renault and Lambie-Nairn declined to confirm the story, but a source connected with the project claims that the new channel is in the early stages of development, and will eventually be available to Sky subscribers.
The move follows the launch of Audi’s online channel audi.tv in May last year, which broadcasts 24 hours of digital, car, sports, art and design content.
‘Audi is about technology, but Renault wants its branding and programming to reflect the qualities of freedom and spontaneity,’ says the source.
He expressed concern that in light of the economic downturn, the project may never make it to completion. In September, Renault announced that it was cutting 6000 jobs.
