Studio 8 sets the stage for D&AD Awards

Studio 8 is art-directing the D&AD Awards ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on 15 May.

The theme for the evening will carry through the ‘Is it a pencil?’ idea behind all the marketing for this year’s event. Giant line drawings, characters designed by creative collective Le Gun, and a big screen are all set to be involved.

Studio 8 is responsible for bringing Le Gun on board, and is designing the interior of the event, the invitations and the book of the night. The consultancy is working alongside event management company DNA to produce the event.

Four-man consultancy Studio 8 was appointed without a pitch. Its creative director Matt Willey was formerly with Frost Design, the consultancy responsible for rejuvenating D&AD’s magazine Ampersand.

‘The Royal Festival Hall is a huge space and so there are a lot of people and a lot of delegation involved. It’s a huge job for us,’ says Willey.
