I’m sad to write that this is my last week as editor of Design Week, after nearly eight years on the title.
I’m leaving to join the Government Digital Service, where I’ll be helping to articulate the amazing work they’re doing to lead the digital transformation of the UK government.
Although I’m excited about this new role, I’m also very sad to leave Design Week – I’m hugely proud of the work we’ve done over the past few years.
A lot has changed at Design Week since I joined as news editor in 2008. Back then the title was a weekly printed magazine – now it is a thriving online hub.
We now provide news, insight and inspiration around the clock through our website, social media channels, events and printed supplements.
But there’s an awful lot that hasn’t changed. Design Week remains a title at the heart of the industry and continues to strive to provide a strong voice for the design sector.
I know that my colleagues Tom Banks and Sarah Dawood will continue with this aim as they take charge of Design Week.
I’ve had many highlights from my time at Design Week – I’ve been part of the hugely successful Design Week Awards, helped in campaigns to lobby government about design education and taken part in fantastic events such as the London Design Festival and Design Manchester.
But the thing that I’ve enjoyed most from my time here has been the opportunity to meet, talk to and learn from all the amazingly talented and inspirational people in the design industry – the Design Week readers.
I now look forward to becoming one of those readers myself and I wish Design Week the greatest success as it grows and develops in the future.
