Recommendations by Thomas Heatherwick Studio for the development of Milton Keynes town centre will be presented to the public this week.
The strategy, which has been approved by Milton Keynes Council and English Partnerships, is part of a framework for the development of the centre over the next 30 years. It includes recommendations on public space design from signage and street furniture to car parks and bus shelters.
‘We are involving artistic thinking in all areas of city centre design,’ says public art development officer for Milton Keynes Council Ruth Charity.
However, implementation of the recommendations is still some way off, she adds.
