JHP works on giant Korean shopping centre

JHP has designed the a new shopping centre for Korean retail conglomerate Hyundai, which is the company’s largest shopping centre in Korea.

JHP worked on the commercial strategy, retail master plan, architecture and customer experience for the new centre – The Hyundai – which is situated in Pangyo, a suburb of Korean capital Seoul.

900 stores across 20 floors

The new centre features 20 floors – seven basement levels and 13 above-ground floors.

It boasts 900 stores carrying 19,850 international brands.

JHP says: “The shopping experience has been carefully crafted to drift from everyday commodity to layers of luxury including brands such as Louis Vuitton, Yves St Laurent, Omega, Gucci, Prada and Dior.”

£460 million revenue expected

The centre also features 48 restaurants and Korea’s largest food court – at 13,860m2.

It also hosts a children’s museum and library and a Korean “culture centre” with cooking, ballet and calligraphy classes as well as a theatre and concert venue.

JHP says Hyundai expects the centre to generate sales of 800 billion won (£460 million) in 2016.
