Inventor Trevor Baylis gets CBE for services to intellectual property

Baylis currently operates the Trevor Baylis Brands service, which offers help and advice on issues including patents, copyright law and registering designs.

He told the BBC “I’ve been pushing hard to help other inventors because so many people get ripped off like a turkey or find they do not have the money to pay the lawyers to protect themselves.”

Others receiving honours include stage designer Es Devlin and Creative England chairman John Newbigin, who both receive OBEs. Lynne Kilpatrick, head of video games at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has also been given an OBE.

Hasan Bakhshi, director of creative economy in policy and research for Nesta receives an MBE, as does Lydia Lopes Cardozo of Cardozo Kindersley Workshop – for services to letter-cutting.

Ceramic artist Paul Cummins, who created the field of poppies installation at the Tower of London to mark the centenary of the First World War, also receives an MBE.
